Abstract

Home modifications have been shown to have a positive relationship with ageing-in-place (AIP). However, in Hong Kong, the public is not aware of the age-friendly home, as well as the role of occupational therapist in home modification to facilitate AIP of elderly person. In 2013, a non-profit-making housing developer in Hong Kong launched a home modification programme in order to provide public education, consultation and home environment assessment to elderly homeowners. The programme aimed at increasing the public awareness on age-friendly home environment and promoted the role of occupational therapist to provide a possible solution for elderly home owners to age-in-place by modifying their home environment.
