Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the occupational performance profile of older participants in a Brazilian workshop

Abstract

Objective: To map the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the occupational performance profile of older people participating in the Deu Branco workshop. Methods: The study was developed in three phases with the application of the Disability Assessment Scale for Dementia long version (DADL-BR) in older people attending the Deu Branco workshop at Federal University of So Paulo (Unifesp), Brazil. Results: In the pre-pandemic period of COVID-19, participants had difficulties in only 2 of the 20 domains evaluated (Rest and Sleep and Finance and Correspondence), while during the pandemic period they had difficulties in 5 of the 20 domains (Functional Mobility, Rest and Sleep, Finance and Correspondence, Care of Others and Work). Conclusion: It was possible to observe the interference of the COVID-19 pandemic in the daily biopsychosocial sphere of older people, who had to adapt their activities or were unable to perform some of their occupations.
