Importance of Cultural Differences on Patients Attitude Towards Treatment
Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the attitudes of psychiatric patients towards their treatment. From concepts taken in ethno-psychiatry and from her personal clinical experience in psychiatry, the author investigates the importance of cultural differences on treatment. Cultural differences are important on the attitudes of patients but there are other variables to be considered. Reticence and denial seem to be most often observed. The author underlines the importance for therapists to take cultural factors into account when treating patients.Downloads
