Are Faculty Prepared To Address Ethical Issues in Education?

Abstract

This article describes the faculty’s role and responsibility for addressing ethical issues with occupational therapy students during the education process. The article begins with the question of whether or not facutly are prepared to facilitate the development of knowledge and attitudes related to ethics. The individual prior to transmitting information in the classroom must address questions of educator competence. The challenge for American educators is to move beyond the linear view of the AOTA Occupational Therapy “Code of Ethics” in order to teach and model value-based caring for their students.
