Abstract

Abstract
In Belgium, Occupational Therapy is fully recognised by the Health and Education Ministries, and treatments in institutions are reimbursed. The (paradoxe) is that the Belgian Health Security System does not cover Occupational Therapy treatments in private practice despite the fact that the policy is to keep a person at home as long as possible to save money!
Only one visit for home evaluation is refunded or included in the institution program.
After discharge, further need for occupational therapy is often the case and many occupational therapists are looking for practical solutions to the non-refundable home interventions.
The two associations EDiTh and GRApE were created to cover this need and to ensure a high quality treatment independently from the institutions.
Maybe OT's in other countries face the same problems as we have and we would like to hear from them or equally share our experiences with others.
