Abstract

There is an emerging trend that stress, anxiety and depression will become the leading causes of disability in the workplace over the next 20 years. In this paper, a number of causes of work-related psychosocial stresses are examined, based on various theories and research findings. Reflection on how occupational therapy could be proactive in responding to this emerging issue will be explored to encourage further discussion about possible actions that could be taken by the occupational therapists.
