Abstract

In Finland, all the health care professions have each defined their own core processes. The initiator of this definition project was the Ministry of Education Finland. It was started in 2000 and completed in November 2001. In the work team for occupational therapy, there were delegates from polytechnics which have a degree programme of occupational therapy. A delegate from the Finnish Association of Occupational Therapists also participated in the team. In this report, the core processes of occupational therapy are specified according to the main characters of the profession. They are the client, occupation, the therapist, therapy process and development of the profession. Every polytechnics in Finland has to use these core processes as bases for the planning of occupational therapy education.
